To our Focus Points Supporters,<\/h2>\n

With the\u00a0season of fall in full swing, I want to take a moment to thank you for being part of the Focus Points community. This year has been filled with both challenges and moments of deep gratitude. Together, we\u2019ve celebrated our\u00a030th anniversary<\/strong>, continued to serve hundreds of families each week through our core programs, and strengthened the foundation for another three decades of community impact.<\/p>\n

The sense of community and purpose we shared at our annual\u00a0Loter\u00eda fundraising event<\/strong>\u00a0on September 5<\/strong>\u00a0continues to motivate our work every day. What a celebration it was! Seeing our founders, community partners, participant families, and current and former board members all gathered to celebrate Focus Points was inspiring. We are deeply grateful to our staff, sponsors, and everyone who contributed to making this year’s\u00a0Loter\u00eda<\/strong>\u00a0such a success.<\/p>\n

The solidarity felt at\u00a0Loter\u00eda<\/strong>\u00a0propels us to continue to endure during these challenging times. Our community has been impacted by government cuts, hostility, and most recently the interruption in SNAP and WIC benefits. We persevere because every day we see the impact of this work. I hope you will appreciate the impact of your investments in our work, as you read the program updates below. The\u00a0Farmers’ Market<\/strong>\u00a0met critical needs for food access in our community this summer and provided a fun space for community to gather. Our\u00a0Older Adults program<\/strong>\u00a0continues to grow and gain interest from neighbors.\u00a0Home visitation programs PAT and HIPPY<\/strong>\u00a0received some well-deserved recognition and have an\u00a0exciting event<\/strong>\u00a0coming up. And, we are of course so very grateful to all of our\u00a0volunteers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As we approach the giving season, including\u00a0Colorado Gives Day<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday, December 9<\/strong>, your generosity remains more important than ever. Contributions made during this statewide campaign help sustain vital programs like early childhood education, local food access,\u00a0and family support services\u2014all designed to support families in the\u00a0Globeville-Elyria-Swansea<\/strong>\u00a0community, and throughout the greater Denver metro area.<\/p>\n

I hope you\u2019ll consider including\u00a0Puntos de enfoque<\/strong>\u00a0in your\u00a0year-end giving<\/strong>. Home Visitation Programs: Winter Fiesta is this December!<\/h3>\n

Our next big community\u00a0event at Focus Points is the annual\u00a0Fiesta de invierno<\/a>\u00a0on Friday, December 5<\/strong>\u00a0for all of the families participating in our\u00a0PAT and HIPPY Home Visitation programs<\/a><\/strong>! This event brings together many of our families at the start of the holiday season for a wonderful night of connection and gift giving. Families participate in a variety of\u00a0games, create seasonal\u00a0arts and crafts, dance<\/strong>, and have their\u00a0pictures taken with Santa Claus who makes a special surprise visit! At the end of the night, each child will take home their very own\u00a0wrapped holiday gift<\/strong>. In addition, families\u00a0will also receive a\u00a0special cookbook<\/strong>\u00a0compiled of their own family recipes that our educators organized representing everyone’s cultural heritages!<\/p>\n

This year, the Grinch himself will be taking over the festivities\u00a0and transform our Winter Fiesta\u00a0into the magical town of\u00a0Whoville!<\/p>\n

Huerta Urbana: Another Season of Success at our “Pay-What-You-Can” Farmers’ Market<\/h3>\n

Our\u00a0Huerta Urbana Farmers\u2019 Market<\/a>, which ran from June 13 through October 31,\u00a0<\/strong>was once again\u00a0up to the challenge of providing our community with\u00a0food necessities<\/strong>\u00a0on an almost weekly basis. We are grateful to all of our community partners who sold\u00a0fresh produce, homemade crafts<\/strong>, and spoke with our participants at\u00a0informational booths offering a wealth of knowledge on the services and programs they provide. Our Farmers’ Market is part of our\u00a0Huerta Urbana program<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and fulfills our value of Economic Inclusion by promoting\u00a0long-term financial stability<\/strong> by preparing adults with the tools, skills, and connections they need to participate fully in the workforce.<\/p>\n

Family Support Services: Older Adults Programming Organizes Group Visit to Colorado History Center<\/h3>\n

Our Older Adult participants, along with our\u00a0<\/strong>Family Support Services (FSS<\/strong>)<\/a>\u00a0team, visited the History Colorado Center on September 25. Everyone enjoyed interacting with the docents and seeing all the great exhibits, especially sitting in an old Ford car from the early 20th century!<\/p>\n

We hope to continue organizing future trips such as this one along with providing\u00a0monthly informative workshops<\/strong>\u00a0conducted by our community partners through the\u00a0City and County of Denver HRCP Aging Division<\/strong>\u00a0at our center. These offerings tailored to older adults provide safe and comforting spaces where they can learn and become equipped while building community connections, decreasing the effects of isolation, providing access to key services and increasing quality of life.<\/p>\n

The work at Focus Points doesn\u2019t happen without the\u00a0support of volunteers<\/strong>\u00a0throughout the year. We want to give a shout-out to all the\u00a0corporate groups and individuals<\/strong>\u00a0who have expanded our capacity to support families this year! From cleaning up our urban farm and packing food bags at our seasonal\u00a0Farmers’ Market<\/strong>\u00a0to organizing backpacks and materials for our\u00a0Back2School, Health Fair and Loter\u00eda\u00a0<\/strong>events, we humbly thank all of you for taking the time to learn about our organization and donate your time and talents to support our efforts!<\/p>\n
