Welcome to 2026! We hope the holiday season offered moments of rest, connection, and joys shared with family and friends. As the new year begins\u2014accompanied by a gentler winter and just a touch of snowfall\u2014we are feeling especially energized by what lies ahead.<\/p>\n

With new workshops launching and the introduction of our Youth Advisory Committee, there is so much unfolding at Focus Points. We are excited to step into this year together.<\/p>\n

This month, we recognize January as\u00a0Financial Wellness Month<\/strong><\/a> and Friday, January 23 as Maternal Health Awareness Day<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Program Updates<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Winter Walk-In Hours and Services<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our Family Support Services (FSS) team<\/strong> is available to meet one-on-one with families.<\/p>\n

They can help you access resources including:<\/p>\n

-Paying Xcel Energy utilities bills through Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC)<\/strong>,<\/p>\n

-Acquiring<\/strong>\u00a0food through Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)<\/strong>,<\/p>\n

-Medical insurance through<\/strong>\u00a0Medicaid<\/strong><\/p>\n

-Monthly Visits from Workforce Development to assist with job applications and other preparations\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

-And more supports!<\/p>\n

Our Winter Walk-In Hours are:<\/p>\n

Wednesdays, 9:00am-11:45am and 12:45pm-4:00pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fridays, 9:00am-12:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n

We want to thank everyone who came out for all of our holiday events last month, it was great to see so many families in attendance!<\/p>\n

At our\u00a0annual\u00a0Fiesta de invierno<\/strong>, there were\u00a0124 of our PAT and HIPPY\u00a0families<\/a> who attended for a total of 349 people<\/strong>. This is the most participants we have had in years at this event!\u00a0As each family was given two toys, we had around 248 toys distributed<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

At our first Holiday Posada for our Older Adults<\/strong>, there were\u00a035 older adults who attended<\/strong>. Everyone loved the party including all of the home-made food and fun activities. We plan on making this an annual tradition!<\/p>\n

For our Toys for Tots Gift Distribution<\/strong>, about\u00a085 households received holiday gifts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Thanks again to all of our wonderful staff and volunteers who made these events possible. We\u00a0hope\u00a0that everyone’s holidays were a little brighter and happier!\u00a0\u00a0

New Youth Advisory Committee!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Open to Middle School and High School Students Living in 80205 and 80216<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We are happy to announce the launch of our new Youth Program and are actively recruiting middle school and high school students to join\u00a0our Youth Advisory Committee<\/strong> concentrating in the 80205 and 80216 communities near us.<\/p>\n

This is a great opportunity for youth to co-create our program together by building leadership and teamwork skills.<\/p>\n

New Focus Points Farm Box is at National Western Center!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are excited to announce that we have a farm box<\/strong>\u00a0(a hydroponic container)\u00a0up and running at National Western Center<\/a><\/strong>! In partnership with CommonSpirit<\/a><\/strong>, who donated the farm box to National Western Center, our Huerta Urbana program<\/strong><\/a> is now equipped to expand our bounty and ability to provide year-round fresh food for the community. As our team trains with FarmBox<\/a><\/strong> on proper operation practices we look forward to the harvests to come and this food reaching many of your tables in the coming months.<\/p>\n

We are so grateful for the generosity and partnership that has moved this journey forward and look forward to updating you on this project.<\/p>\n
