To our Focus Points Supporters,
With the season of fall in full swing, I want to take a moment to thank you for being part of the Focus Points community. This year has been filled with both challenges and moments of deep gratitude. Together, we’ve celebrated our 30th anniversary, continued to serve hundreds of families each week through our core programs, and strengthened the foundation for another three decades of community impact.
The sense of community and purpose we shared at our annual Lotería fundraising event on September 5 continues to motivate our work every day. What a celebration it was! Seeing our founders, community partners, participant families, and current and former board members all gathered to celebrate Focus Points was inspiring. We are deeply grateful to our staff, sponsors, and everyone who contributed to making this year’s Lotería such a success.
The solidarity felt at Lotería propels us to continue to endure during these challenging times. Our community has been impacted by government cuts, hostility, and most recently the interruption in SNAP and WIC benefits. We persevere because every day we see the impact of this work. I hope you will appreciate the impact of your investments in our work, as you read the program updates below. The Farmers’ Market met critical needs for food access in our community this summer and provided a fun space for community to gather. Our Older Adults program continues to grow and gain interest from neighbors. Home visitation programs PAT and HIPPY received some well-deserved recognition and have an exciting event coming up. And, we are of course so very grateful to all of our volunteers.
As we approach the giving season, including Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, December 9, your generosity remains more important than ever. Contributions made during this statewide campaign help sustain vital programs like early childhood education, local food access, and family support services—all designed to support families in the Globeville-Elyria-Swansea community, and throughout the greater Denver metro area.
I hope you’ll consider including Puntos de enfoque in your year-end giving. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference, turning moments of uncertainty into opportunities for stability and success. Together, we can continue building better communities by strengthening families.
With gratitude and hope,
Julio Kelty

Thank You for Coming to Lotería!
Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Lotería on Friday, September 5 at the McNichols Civic Center Building! We enjoyed celebrating our 30th anniversary with you during a night of shared commitment to our values in supporting Denver’s families.
Please enjoy these moments captured at the event. You can view a few more event photos aquí on our website!
See you at next year’s Lotería in 2026!
Home Visitation Programs: Winter Fiesta is this December!
Our next big community event at Focus Points is the annual Fiesta de invierno on Friday, December 5 for all of the families participating in our PAT and HIPPY Home Visitation programs! This event brings together many of our families at the start of the holiday season for a wonderful night of connection and gift giving. Families participate in a variety of games, create seasonal arts and crafts, dance, and have their pictures taken with Santa Claus who makes a special surprise visit! At the end of the night, each child will take home their very own wrapped holiday gift. In addition, families will also receive a special cookbook compiled of their own family recipes that our educators organized representing everyone’s cultural heritages!
This year, the Grinch himself will be taking over the festivities and transform our Winter Fiesta into the magical town of Whoville!
INVOLÚCRESE
You can be a part of our annual festivities by becoming a sponsor! This is a great opportunity for groups wanting to directly impact families and bring holiday cheer by partnering with us to provide gifts, entertainment and food to our early childhood education families.
Your company logo will be displayed on our website along with in-person event signage and special shout-outs on our social media and in our upcoming Winter Newsletter.
To learn more about our PAT and HIPPY programs and how you can sponsor this year’s Winter Fiesta, please contact our Gerente Senior de Programas de Visitas Domiciliarias as soon as you are able!
Congratulations to our Home Visitation Team!
Please join us in congratulating our Senior Manager of Home Visitation Programs, Glenda, for being recognized by Intellectual Women and two of our educators, Elvira and Maria, for 20 years of service as PAT educators at Focus Points!
Huerta Urbana: Another Season of Success at our “Pay-What-You-Can” Farmers’ Market
Our Huerta Urbana Farmers’ Market, which ran from June 13 through October 31, was once again up to the challenge of providing our community with food necessities on an almost weekly basis. We are grateful to all of our community partners who sold fresh produce, homemade crafts, and spoke with our participants at informational booths offering a wealth of knowledge on the services and programs they provide. Our Farmers’ Market is part of our Huerta Urbana program and fulfills our value of Economic Inclusion by promoting long-term financial stability by preparing adults with the tools, skills, and connections they need to participate fully in the workforce.

Family Support Services: Older Adults Programming Organizes Group Visit to Colorado History Center
Our Older Adult participants, along with our Family Support Services (FSS) team, visited the History Colorado Center on September 25. Everyone enjoyed interacting with the docents and seeing all the great exhibits, especially sitting in an old Ford car from the early 20th century!
We hope to continue organizing future trips such as this one along with providing monthly informative workshops conducted by our community partners through the City and County of Denver HRCP Aging Division at our center. These offerings tailored to older adults provide safe and comforting spaces where they can learn and become equipped while building community connections, decreasing the effects of isolation, providing access to key services and increasing quality of life.
To learn more how you can contribute to this program, please contact our Older Adults specialist for more details.
Thank You Volunteers!

We want to give a shout-out to all the corporate groups and individuals who have expanded our capacity to support families this year! From cleaning up our urban farm and packing food bags at our seasonal Farmers’ Market to organizing backpacks and materials for our Back2School, Health Fair and Lotería events, we humbly thank all of you for taking the time to learn about our organization and donate your time and talents to support our efforts!
Interested in volunteering? We have plenty of opportunities throughout the year to support our programs for both individual and corporate engagement.
