Part Time Positions
CRSP (Colorado Refugee Services Program) Specialist
The CRSP Specialist is the main point of contact for resettlement agencies as they refer adult refugees and asylees to our program for ELA classes. As such, the program specialist is responsible for student outreach, registration and enrollment, data entry and tracking, and assisting with academic events and activities for the program. Bilingualism is required and linguistic flexibility—the ability to learn basic-level phrases in other languages and the willingness to communicate with non-English speakers—is an absolute necessity. This position includes a great deal of one-on-one time with newly arrived refugees and requires a person who is patient, organized, empathetic, outgoing, friendly, persistent, and adaptive. This is a hybrid position with three in-person days at our North Denver or Aurora locations and two remote days per week.
CRSP ELA Literacy Specialist
The CRSP Literacy Instructor will instruct for our adult refugee ELA program. This role is responsible for the teaching of two classes and two in-person tutoring sessions per week. The instructor will also be responsible for assisting with additional academic activities and general administrative duties as assigned. Our program depends on the instructor’s ability to guide our students and classes in a compassionate, cohesive, and consistent manner in order to help grow the department and keep performance, attendance rates, and morale high. A large percentage of our students have never attended school before and many are pre-literate in their native languages. As such, our instructors must be highly patient, empathetic, linguistically flexible, and well organized. This role requires planning and teaching two (2) pre-literacy level classes per week and two in-person tutoring sessions for our students who aren’t ready to join our virtual or in-person classes. These classes and tutoring sessions are for our pre-literate population and will consist of new arrivals from Afghanistan. Our courses are 2.5 hours each and held 2x weekly. This is currently a hybrid position and requires in-person teaching, tutoring, and office hours five days per week with some of those hours being remote work. This position is contracted until September 30, 2024, with the possibility of extension for an additional year after this date, to be determined by grant status and program need.
