About Huerta Urbana

Huerta Urbana is a community-driven program of Focus Points Family Resource Center focused on expanding access to fresh, culturally relevant food in the Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea (GES) neighborhoods. The program manages a one-acre farm located in the heart of GES, a USDA-designated food desert, where it has been growing produce for the community since May 2021. We also have an onsite chicken coop and bee keep for fresh eggs and honey and everyone who visits is welcome to stop by and say hi! All harvested produce, eggs and honey are shared at the Huerta Urbana Farmers Market, held at Focus Points from June through October each year, alongside local community vendors.

FarmBox at National Western Center

In 2026, Huerta Urbana expanded its impact through a partnership with CommonSpirit Health, FarmBox Fresh, and the National Western Center, launching a FarmBox program to increase produce production and improve access to fresh food for GES and surrounding communities. Farmers Market Survey

With the success of the 2025 Farmers’ Market season, we want to hear about your individual experiences. Please consider taking the following participant experience survey as we hope to receive as much feedback as we can for creating a market and space that serves the community better for this coming season in 2026.

SURVEY CLOSES IN MAY!

Bee Keep

Our onsite bee keep is looked after by our community partner Free Range Beehives. Free Range Beehives is a social enterprise committed to sustainability and ethics. They work across North America installing hives, hosting events for employees and tenants, and delivering educational programming. In turn, their bees pollinate surrounding communities and increase biodiversity. They further tenant and employee appreciation and importance of bees in our ecosystem.
