Monthly Awareness

New Year, New Beginnings!

Welcome to 2026! We hope the holiday season offered moments of rest, connection, and joys shared with family and friends. As the new year begins—accompanied by a gentler winter and just a touch of snowfall—we are feeling especially energized by what lies ahead.

With new workshops launching and the introduction of our Youth Advisory Committee, there is so much unfolding at Focus Points. We are excited to step into this year together.

This month, we recognize January as Financial Wellness Month and Friday, January 23 as Maternal Health Awareness Day.

Holiday Wrap-Up:

Festive Events and Spreading Cheer

We want to thank everyone who came out for all of our holiday events last month, it was great to see so many families in attendance!

At our annual Winter Fiesta, there were 124 of our PAT and HIPPY families who attended for a total of 349 people. This is the most participants we have had in years at this event! As each family was given two toys, we had around 248 toys distributed!

At our first Holiday Posada for our Older Adults, there were 35 older adults who attended. Everyone loved the party including all of the home-made food and fun activities. We plan on making this an annual tradition!

For our Toys for Tots Gift Distribution, about 85 households received holiday gifts.

Thanks again to all of our wonderful staff and volunteers who made these events possible. We hope that everyone’s holidays were a little brighter and happier!

We are happy to announce the launch of our new Youth Program and are actively recruiting middle school and high school students to join our Youth Advisory Committee concentrating in the 80205 and 80216 communities near us.

This is a great opportunity for youth to co-create our program together by building leadership and teamwork skills.

New Focus Points Farm Box is at National Western Center!

We are excited to announce that we have a farm box (a hydroponic container) up and running at National Western Center! In partnership with CommonSpirit, who donated the farm box to National Western Center, our Huerta Urbana program is now equipped to expand our bounty and ability to provide year-round fresh food for the community. As our team trains with FarmBox on proper operation practices we look forward to the harvests to come and this food reaching many of your tables in the coming months.

We are so grateful for the generosity and partnership that has moved this journey forward and look forward to updating you on this project.

Please watch this great video on Instagram from CommonSpirit that explains more about what our farm box will accomplish.
