Holiday Wrap-Up at Focus Points!

A Season of Joy, Connection, and Community: Focus Points’ 2025 Holiday Celebrations

The 2025 holiday season at Focus Points Family Resource Center was filled with moments of joy, generosity, and togetherness that reflected what our community is all about. From young children experiencing the magic of their first Winter Fiesta, to older adults gathering for music and laughter, to families receiving holiday gifts, the season was a powerful reminder of the importance of connection across generations.

Winter Fiesta: Celebrating Our Youngest Learners and Their Families

On December 5, Focus Points welcomed 124 families from our Early Childhood Education home visitation programs, Parents as Teachers (PAT) and HIPPY, to our annual Winter Fiesta at the New America School in Thornton. In total, 349 parents, caregivers, and children came together. The event featured visits from Santa and The Grinch, performances, games, and festive treats. Each family received a delicious meal, bilingual cookbooks to support healthy cooking at home, and two toys for their children, resulting in 248 toys distributed that evening.

Winter Fiesta is one of Focus Points’ most joyful traditions, and this year’s event was featured on Telemundo!

Honoring Older Adults with Our First Holiday Posada

As part of our growing focus on serving community members across the lifespan, Focus Points hosted its first-ever Older Adults Holiday Posada on December 11. Thirty-five older adults from Globeville, Elyria-Swansea, and surrounding neighborhoods gathered for a morning of music, lotería, karaoke, and connection.

While programming for older adults is a newer area of focus, the Posada marked an important milestone. It reflected Focus Points’ commitment to reducing social isolation, supporting healthy aging, and creating welcoming spaces where older adults can build relationships and feel a strong sense of belonging.

Spreading Holiday Cheer Through Toys for Tots

On December 18, Focus Points partnered with Toys for Tots to distribute gifts to 85 households. Families received toys for their children, helping make the holidays brighter and easing financial stress during a time of year that can be especially challenging for many.

A Season Rooted in 30 Years of Impact

This year’s holiday celebrations took place during a meaningful moment for Focus Points, marking the conclusion of our “30 Years of Impact, 30 Days of Giving” anniversary campaign.

Founded 30 years ago as a place where immigrant and refugee neighbors could learn English, Focus Points has grown and adapted in response to community voices. Today, it provides early childhood education, multigenerational family support, workforce development, and a seasonal pay-what-you-can farmers market, all designed to help families build stability, opportunity, and long-term success.

From toddlers dancing at Winter Fiesta, to older adults sharing stories at the Holiday Posada, to families opening gifts through Toys for Tots, this season captured the heart of Focus Points’ mission. Strong communities are built when people of all ages feel supported, connected, and celebrated.
