Honoring Ourselves and History

With the year underway, February encourages us to refocus and recommit—to our growth, our families, and our collective wellbeing. It’s a time to nurture what sustains us and continue building a community where everyone can thrive.

February is both Black History Month and National Self-Care Month, a meaningful time to honor the strength, resilience, and contributions of Black communities while also remembering the importance of caring for our minds, bodies, and spirits.

This month has also been filled with celebrations, from Valentine’s Day to the Lunar New Year and Mardi Gras—moments that bring joy, connection, and community together.

Self-care can look different for everyone, whether it’s resting, asking for support, spending time with loved ones, or celebrating your culture and story. We hope this month has brought reflection, connection, and renewal for you and your family.

PAT Vision and Hearing Screenings at February Group Connection

We want to thank the 20 families from our Parents as Teachers (PAT) program who came out to the February group connection!

Our educators screened around 18 children for hearing and vision. Parents learned about different hearing and vision milestones for each age and stage of their children while enjoying home-made food and some Valentine’s Day arts and crafts time.

New Youth Advisory Committee!

Open to Middle School and High School Students Living in 80205 and 80216

We are happy to announce the launch of our new Youth Program and are actively recruiting middle school and high school students to join our Youth Advisory Committee concentrating in the 80205 and 80216 communities near us.

This is a great opportunity for youth to co-create our program together by building leadership and teamwork skills.

To learn more and sign up, please contact our Youth Coordinator, Will Grubbs, at will@focuspoints.org.

FarmBox, 2026 Farmers’ Market Season and Survey for Huerta Urbana

Focus Points values the voice of the community as we support you in meeting your needs and reaching your goals. Beyond operating our new FarmBox at National Western Center, (see photo above), we are preparing for this year’s 2026 Farmer’s Market season with dates to be announced next month!

Help us to continue improving our Farmer’s Markets by taking just a few moments to complete this brief questionnaire and provide feedback about your market experiences.
