Winter Supporter Newsletter 2026
Building Community • Deepening Impact • Looking Ahead Together

A Season of Gratitude and Growth
Dear Friends of Focus Points,
We begin this year grounded in gratitude and energized by what lies ahead. Thank you for standing with Focus Points during the giving season. Because of you, even in the quiet and often challenging winter months, families continue to find nourishment, connection, and a sense of steadiness within our community. Your generosity ensures that our doors remain open as a place where neighbors gather, stories are shared, and opportunities take root.
As we reflect on the year ahead, I’ve been thinking about the moments and experiences that shape why this work matters so deeply—and why creating spaces of belonging continues to guide everything we do.
When I was young, my family moved to the United States from abroad. I remember walking into school trying to find my place—wearing handmade clothes, bangle bracelets stacked up my arms, and a hairstyle I believed made me look completely American. Instead, I stood out in ways that were difficult at the time. I was teased for my accent and my appearance, and I quickly learned how it felt to be unsure whether I truly belonged.
Over time, those experiences became part of what shaped my perspective. They instilled in me a quiet commitment to help create spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, and free to show up as themselves. When I said yes to serving as Executive Director of Focus Points seven years ago, it was with that intention at heart. The culture of inclusion we nurture today—how families are greeted, how community voices guide our work, and how belonging is centered across our programs—grows from that belief that everyone deserves to feel seen and respected.
That spirit of belonging is reflected throughout this winter newsletter. You’ll see how your support is strengthening food access, deepening community partnerships, and expanding opportunities for families and youth across Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea and beyond. Each story is a reminder that community is built through relationships—through moments of welcome, shared learning, and collective growth.
We’re also excited to invite you to save the date for our signature event, Lotería—a celebration that brings neighbors, supporters, and partners together in joy and shared purpose. We look forward to gathering with you in a space that reflects the warmth and vibrancy of the community we hold together.
Our relationship with you is an essential part of this work. We would love to learn more about what inspires your connection to Focus Points. Please consider taking a moment to complete the short survey below so we can better understand which areas of our mission resonate most with you and how you’d like to stay engaged in the year ahead.
Thank you for walking alongside us as partners in community. We step into this new year strengthened by your generosity and encouraged by the shared vision we continue to build together.
In Solidarity,
Jules Kelty
Executive Director

FarmBox Project: A New Model for Food Equity in 80216

Access to fresh, healthy food is essential for strong communities—yet the 80216 ZIP code remains one of the nation’s largest food deserts. Through an innovative partnership with FarmBox Foods, CommonSpirit Health, and National Western Center, Focus Points is helping to change that narrative.
Located on the National Western Center campus, the FarmBox is a vertical, hydroponic growing system that produces fresh food year-round, right here in the community it serves.
Why the FarmBox matters:
- Grows produce using less water and minimal space
- Thrives in urban settings where traditional farming is not possible
- Offers a scalable, sustainable model for cities nationwide
As the community operator, Focus Points oversees the FarmBox through our Huerta Urbana program, ensuring produce aligns with cultural preferences and community needs. FarmBox Foods provides the technology and training, while CommonSpirit Health supports this work as a long-term investment in community health with its home at National Western Center, close to our location and urban farm.
This partnership goes beyond growing food as it’s about advancing food equity, environmental stewardship, and community resilience in 80216 and beyond.
Further Your Impact
3 Ways to Sustain Giving in 2026
1. The most powerful support is the kind you can count on—month after month. Unidad transforms your generosity into a steady foundation for Focus Points programs. Your recurring gift provides consistent momentum for families, seniors and youth, allowing programs in education, family wellbeing, and economic inclusion to plan ahead, respond quickly, and remain present whenever community members walk through our doors.
Instead of a one-time $100 gift, consider giving $10 each month—growing into $120 of sustained, reliable impact across the year. Small, predictable contributions fueling consistent access to resources, learning, and community connection.

2. Another way you can give back is to enroll in the King Soopers’ Community Rewards program and choose Focus Points as your nonprofit. A portion of every store purchase will support our programs at no extra coast to you.
